Oasis of the Sea Review

Oasis of the Seas = Paradise at Sea
By Cynthia Neu and Jim Seeley

Anything you've read, seen or heard about Royal Caribbean's newest ship: Oasis of the Seas....is true. In fact, Oasis of the Seas is Paradise at Sea. Cruising with 6,000 guests and more than 2,000 crew members, Oasis of the Seas is bigger than many hometowns in the United States. And when you're in this amazing town all your vacation dreams come true. First stop is Central Park where the trees and flowers are real and where, when you look up , you see quaint, white staterooms with balconies overlooking a lush green park. The new cabins are crowned with wide open sunny decks and huge swimming pools. No shortage of deck chairs here. It is perfect.

FUN & FITNESS  TRAVEL CLUB Program Director Jim Seeley (above), Advertising Director Bonnie Burroughs, Travel Coordinator Cynthia Neu (very top photo) and Assistant Travel Coordinator Matt Hilferty (below with car) cruised recently on the Oasis out of Ft. Lauderdale as guests of Royal Caribbean for its inaugural cruise. Visit www.oasisoftheseas.com to see more pictures and videos of this new cruise sensation. But first, we'd like to share with you what we experienced.

Cynthia: "I loved Oasis because it was like being at a premium resort with no one rushing you. The digital TV screen in our stateroom was as big as my bed!  I did not have to drive anywhere, nor park a car, nor buy a ticket when I rode the new carousel or saw the ship's Broadway Show 'Hairspray.' One night we enjoyed hilariously funny comedians who used no foul words and then we saw a spectacular Ice Capades-type show. All the crew members were super-friendly and helpful.

"After the show we went to Johnny Rocket's on the Boardwalk to eat hamburgers and drink sodas. It reminded me of being a kid again out on the beach at summertime, under a starry night. But instead of being at the beach...we were out to sea with fresh air, bright stars and no strange persons hanging around. It felt very safe on the Oasis. It will feel good when bringing my grand children with me next time.

"Saturday morning we went shopping in elegant stores with quality merchandise all along the Royal Promenade. Matt enjoyed an antique car on display. At noon we met for pizza at an outdoor Broadway cafe and then suited up for an afternoon of swimming and tanning in the ship's 21 different pools. We even sat in hot tubs facing the ocean in every direction. Another name for this ship could be 'Hot Tub Heaven.' Each was better than the other! What kind of pool do you want? Lap pool? Swimming pool? Shallow pool? Surf pool? Jet stream pool? You name it, Oasis has it. Over the next few months Program Director Jim Seeley will study a selection of cruises and pools on this new ship to chose which ones are suitable for our FUN & FITNESS water exercise devotees. In the meantime, we are happy to book your family and friends on this amazing ship whenever you are ready. Oasis is the ideal vacation experience for multi-generational families. It has something for everyone at any age. We offer full services at Internet prices. Call 800-273-7607 or 800-955-9942.

"I've taken nearly 50 cruises as Coordinator for our Travel Club," continued Cynthia.  "Oasis of the Seas is the finest ship I've ever cruised. It is big. It is beautiful. And every wonderful thing you've heard about it is all true, especially about its neighborhoods. When Jim and I were sitting at a cafe on the Royal Promenade, Royal Caribbean Chairman of the Board Richard Fain and President Adam Goldstein stopped by to say hello. We thanked them for inviting us aboard their fabulous cruise ship and they thanked us for being 'loyal to Royal.' At that moment we were all neighbors enjoying our new neighborhood together.

"I also had the pleasure of meeting RCCL Senior Vice President Vicki Freed who's been most helpful to our FUN & FITNESS  TRAVEL CLUB. It was my pleasure to thank her personally."

Jim: "We've recently returned from attending an inaugural cruise aboard the Royal Caribbean jaw-dropping Oasis of the Seas.  This ship features many 'firsts' at sea. The most amazing is the 'AquaTheater' at the aft of the ship, just past the beach area, beyond the 'Boardwalk.' We saw a preview of a spectacular show with high divers, synchronized swimmers and acrobats. The 'Boardwalk' is like a brand new Atlantic City or Coney Island. And inside the ship is a 'Rising Tide Bar' which ascends and descends every 15 minutes, This is really something to see. The Broadway musical 'Hairspray' was terrific. All such stage performances are shown at no extra cost to you."

Bonnie: "What impressed me most was how family-oriented this cruise ship is. You're invited to bring on board your babies, as well as your toddlers. Oasis is perfect for my extended family. There's something here for all of us to do. In addition, there are incredibly attractive dining places on the Oasis. You can have has much privacy as you want for dinner. It is an awesome cruise ship."

Matt: "Incredible describes this ship. It was like a spotless clean beach with excellent food and a hundred things to do. The most fantastic part of the whole ship was its AquaTheater.  The Oasis was made for our FUN & FITNESS  TRAVEL CLUB!"

Happy Sailing!
